This is German military surplus believed to be 1990s vintage, however the headstamp has been 'sanitized' by machining out the markings. Each round was marked in ink print '.SM . 308Win'. I was told by the importer that this was a condition required by the seller in order to allow for commercial sales of this ammo.
This ammo is Brass case, Berdan primed, non-corrosive made in Germany by SM Chemnitzer Sportwaffen und Munitionsfabrik GmbH. The bullet is lead core with 'Cupro-Nickel' jackets that make the projectile magnetic. Please note that the ammo has tiny grey spots of oxidation / discoloration on the brass of some rounds where the rounds contacted the original military packaging, this ammo was repackaged in new boxes when it was prepared for commercial sales. We have sold this ammo in the past made by MEN / DAG in Germany and it was very accurate and good quality surplus.
