RETICLES
The LR Dot reticle was developed around a typical centrefire trajectory, like the .308 Winchester round, which is popular around the world for shooting fairly large game. It also suits some of the faster bullets that might be used for hunting foxes and similar quarry.
This design also makes it suitable for European shooters who might prefer a metric set of figures and therefore to zero their rifle in for 100 metres on the centre crosshair and use the lower aim points for 200, 300, 400 and 500 metres. A useful tip: at 16× magnification, the thick posts to the right and left of the centre dot would bracket the body length of a Roe deer at 100yds; a popular sized animal to hunt with this type of reticle
.223/.308 Marksman reticles are designed to be accurate when the scope in use is adjusted to the maximum magnification. The prominent center cross is used as the 100 yard zero. Once zeroed, the remaining hold-over aim points, out to 600 yards, fall into place.
Even the 100 yard markers are glass etched for your reference. Hawke has carried out the complicated ballistic math, so you don't have to!
Working with your bullet’s trajectory the LRC 16 & 24 reticle, exclusively from Hawke, provides usable aim points for Long Range Centerfire shooting and hunting. The LRC is built specifically around the ballistics of centerfire cartridges, making holdover/under accuracy more possible than ever before. The glass-etched LRC features an illuminated aim point with windage markers for better accuracy and a reticle that stands out against foliage and dark backgrounds.
The aim points of the reticle are designed with gaps increasing in size. This more closely represents the fall of a bullet’s trajectory; the further the bullet travels, the faster the bullet falls. All you need to do is adjust the magnification setting to match your ballistics.
The reticle can be used for yards or meters depending on magnification setting. Zero the rifle at 200 yards/meters using the marker in the center of the reticle. Adjust the magnification to match your cartridge based on the ballistic table overleaf. The holdover markers below center represent 300, 400 and 500. The top of the post above center can be used for distances closer than 200.
For exact holdover aim points download the Hawke X-ACT application for computers and smartphones.
